Lacey’s Journey

“Legendary Lacey Live” charged $0.50 admission all throughout her childhood on her basement stage. Everything from musical reviews, trumpet solos, dance performances, and even a 17 minute original 1 woman musical were complete with tickets and handmade playbills. It was always evident to Lacey’s family that performing and creating would be a part of her life forever.

Lacey began her formal dance training at the age of three years old at Performing Arts Centre in St. Charles, Missouri. While training in a multitude of styles, she was on their competition team, and a member of the Dance Company of St. Charles. As a child she also participated in Missouri Ballet Theatre’s “The Nutcracker,” and many musicals with Variety Theatre. While continuing all of her work at Performing Arts Centre, In highschool she was a member of and 2-year captain of St. Dominic High School’s Varisty Dance Team. She also had the opportunity to perform in the youth ensemble of three Muny shows, and model for Weissman Dance Wear Solutions.

After graduating, Lacey attended Marymount Manhattan College as a BFA Dance Major. After her freshman year, she decided to turn her focus on musical theatre and transferred to Oklahoma City University (OCU) as a dance performance major. At OCU Lacey is training in ballet, tap, jazz, partnering, precision, theatre dance, voice, and acting. She has had amazing performance opportunities including being a featured dancer and line captain in Star Dance Company’s '“Holiday Spectacular,” and “Move!” Lacey is working to acheive her dreams of performing on Broadway.

A huge passion of Lacey’s is working with those with physical and cognitive disabilities, especially children. After performing in shows incorporating professional adults and kids of all abilities Variety Theatre, Lacey began to truly understand the importance of inclusion. Lacey has been working at Variety the Children’s Charity of St. Louis summer and winter camps for 6 years and loves being able to help children have a safe and positive camp experience.

Disability, Not Inability

At Oklahoma City University, Lacey is a member of the Delta Delta chapter of Alpha Phi. Being a part of this sisterhood has been one of the most enriching parts of her college journey. Lacey feels so blessed to be surrounded by such empowering women who encourage her to be the best version of herself. Alpha Phi raises awareness and money for women’s heart health and Lacey loves helping others understand the importance of this cause that is the number one killer of women in North America.

Sisterhood

Lacey loves art in all forms. Outside of dance, she enjoys the visual art of drawing and painting. She is inspired by her great grandmother whose incredible art work is hung up throughout her childhood home.
